In partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, we work in Nepal to plant a variety of fast growing trees such as; Teak, Sisso, Acacia, Kadam, Cherasi, Pine, Bakino, Lapsi, Tejpat, etc.
The Nepal planting projects are for the people. The communities throughout Nepal are some of the poorest on the planet. They depend on the forest for building supplies, but also understand the importance of preserving/restoring forests for wildlife habitat and an overall healthy ecosystem.

Planting Trees in Nepal
Nepal is one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. About one-quarter of its population survives on less than two dollars per day. However, the majority of the two-dollar per day income is NOT in the form of a cash wage. Instead, their earnings equate to the approximate value earned from agricultural production. To compound matters the World Factbook reports that 46% of the adult population is unemployed.
Deforestation is also a huge issue in Nepal, with radical deforestation being the direct result of desperate people trying to survive for one more day. In their desperation they cut down trees for fuel wood, construction lumber, and to form subsistence farms. However, the destruction of their natural environment only multiplies the poverty issue as water tables decline, soil erodes, and erosion and flooding occur at alarming rates. That’s the bad news.
The good news is Eden Reforestation Projects and tentree have partnered together in Nepal in an effort to alleviate extreme poverty through environmental stewardship through our employ to plant initiative. The wage our village employees will receive will empower them to care for their families, even as they continue to work their small plot farms. And, our village employees have a very specific job to do–reforest their nation.
The results of the employ to plant strategy include entire villages being lifted out of extreme poverty, children being sent to school, water tables rising, water purity improving, agricultural production increasing, wildlife habitat being restored as we replant and protect healthy forest systems.
